As the National Technical Assistance Coordinator, Gary oversees national-level technical assistance initiatives and directs the activities of DCVMRC’s 11 Regional Coordinators.  He facilitates communication, coordination and collaboration between the MRC Regional Coordinators, DCVMRC staff, and national-level program partners.  He also provides key support in the development and implementation of many of the DCVMRC’s efforts to enhance the development, capacity and sustainability of MRC units, such as the MRC Factors for Success, Technical Assistance (TA) Assessment process, Capacity-Building Awards, and Seasonal Leadership and Training Summits.

Gary has extensive experience in emergency planning, operations, and training.  Prior to his current position, Gary consulted in emergency management and homeland security, served as the Emergency Services Manager for a regional council of governments, and worked in local emergency management.  In addition, Gary served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.

Gary received a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
