Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps ( 1520 )

Profile:
Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps, a part of Three Rivers Health District, was started in 2008. Three Rivers covers a 2000 square mile area that is mostly rural. The unit includes 10 counties with a population of approximately 143,000. Three Rivers MRC Volunteers support the local health department offices weekly by working with the unit coordinator and office managers. The unit partners with the three local hospitals, local county governments, American Red Cross, and CERT to provide assistance in emergency exercises and to strengthen the areas capabilities in emergencies. The unit also works with CERT in our district sharing education, training and exercises. Three Rivers is recruiting volunteers by giving presentations, attending health fairs, and speaking at civic group meetings. The coordinator is actively involved with resource sharing groups in 9 of the counties. We encourage administrative volunteers to join as well as medical professionals by going to www.vamrc.org
