Profile:
The Calhoun-Cleburne Medical Reserve Corps serves a county community of 608 square miles, 7 incorporated cities, more than 20 additional communities, and a population of 112,249. The Calhoun County MRC is newly formed and hopes to recruit medical and non-medical professionals who have acted on a desire to volunteer their time and expertise during emergencies. The Calhoun County Medical Reserve Corps is promoting its mission, establishing its policies, procedures, and protocols regarding operations and will be conducting recruiting initiatives within the medical community and the community at large. The unit is preparing to provide staffing at Comfort Care Centers and Point of Dispensing clinics during a mass immunization/prophylaxis campaign.It’s also currently active in a public health preparedness education program for individuals in schools, churches, and community organizations, instructing them how, what, and when to prepare for a disaster.
