| Profile: |
The Central Nebraska Medical Reserve Corps is sponsored by the Tri-Cities Medical Response System (TRIMRS). TRIMRS is a collaborative effort of area hospitals, public health departments, county emergency managers, not-for-profit agencies and city government officials dedicated to creating and maintaining a system for responding to public health emergencies. The TRIMRS mission is to enhance existing local planning efforts for resources, expertise, communication and personnel with the goal of increasing regional capabilities to manage a large number of casualties and/or disruption of services.
TRIMRS serves a twenty-three county region in central Nebraska that is largely rural in nature creating a sparse population. By collaboratively developing a Medical Reserve Corps to serve the TRIMRS region, we are able to broaden our volunteer base allowing us to better serve the citizens within the area.
The Central Nebraska Medical Reserve Corps will work closely with other Nebraska MRCs in the development and on-going provision of volunteer education and training as well as recruitment of volunteers with the goal of developing a volunteer base in Nebraska that can serve throughout the State regardless of the location of need.

Text First Talk Second
Safe America created the Text First. Talk Second. to raise public awareness around the importance of utilizing text messaging for non-emergency communications during a disaster.
When disasters strike, voice networks can become congested with people trying to call each other for non-vital communications. This can result in people in desperate need of help being unable to contact those they need to reach, such as emergency services, friends or loved ones. In some instances, this may also result in emergency service personnel being unable to communicate with each other.
