Our MRC began in 2002, became a registered unit in 2006 and includes licensed medical professionals, EMS workers and also includes non-medical individuals as resource personnel. Our unit works closely with local EMA and community partners.
Our MRC Unit was activated to provide response teams to assist with Portage County H1N1 vaccination clinics earlier in 2010.
Most recently in August 2010 a group of MRC volunteers participated in a large-scale National Guard training exercise called Talon Shield.

8/6/2010
MRC volunteers were solicited to participate in a full-scale 3-day exercise called Talon Shield coordinated by the National Guard with Portage County EMA. Participants in the exercise came from four states. The exercise scenario included severe weather, chemical release and mass fatality.

MRC Nurse volunteers to assist the Portage County Health Department to administer Tdap vaccine to sixth grade students to meet the 2010 requirement for a booster dose of tetanus/pertussis vaccine prior to entry into 7th grade. Clinics will be held at middle school locations within the county.

Open communitry H1N1 vaccination clinic at Craddock Elementary School in Aurora. One of 6 to be held within Portage County in January with public health staff assisted by MRC volunteers.
