The Elkhart County Medical Reserve Corps (ECMRC) was established by the Elkhart County Health Department to engage health care professionals in helping the community prepare for, respond to, and mitigate emergencies, disasters, and pressing health needs by providing a group of readily trained and available volunteer professionals who supplement and assist local medical emergency response systems.
The ECMRC is recruiting licensed health and medical personnel, including nurses, nurse practitioners, veterinarians, pharmacists, doctors, chiropractors, physician assistants, dentists, EMTs, paramedics, and health care students. The MRC is currently working on a mission/vision statement, policies and procedures, training and core competencies for all volunteers, and preparing to provide staffing at Point of Dispensing clinics during mass immunization/prophylaxis campaign. The MRC can potentially help the Elkhart County Health Department in providing flu vaccinations and public health preparedness education in the community.

Elkhart County's MRC met for their regular monthly meeting. The meeting was held at the Elkhart County Health Department. Members decided on the appropriate course of action regarding the NACCHO grant. The group also selected a new coordinator, Laura Graber, from Goshen General Hospital.
