3 Registered Nurses, 1 ARNP and 3 support volunteers participated in Orientation and Core Competencies Training. Orientation included MRC background, vision, mission and your roles. Overview of FEHVR, volunteer rights and responsibilities and ESF-8 Basics. Core Compentencies training included personal and family preparedness plan, Emergency Management Systems, ICS, NIMS. Communication roles and processes with response partners, media, general public, and others along with training regarding the impact an event has on the mental health of members. This was a very engaging training as most members had experienced Hurricane Ivan and the difficulty experienced with communications, transportation and obtaining supplies.
