| Profile: |
The Huron County Medical Reserve Corps was established in October 2006 to serve as a skilled, qualified health and medical volunteer force to supplement the county’s existing health infrastructure, particularly in times of emergency. The Huron County MRC is managed by the Huron County General Health District and is overseen by a steering committee. The Steering Committee consists of administrators from each of the local hospitals, the EMA Director, the Health Commissioner and the MRC Coordinator. Current MRC volunteers are nurses, nurse practitioners and a medical assistant. Additionally, physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, mental health professionals, and EMS professionals are being sought. MRC volunteers are recruited, trained and utilized throughout the year.
