Beginning May 1st 2006, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Lake Charles, LA, funded the Calcasieu Medical Reserve Corps (CMRC) program. CMRC is housed in the Calcasieu Parish Office of Community Service. The Calcasieu Medical Reserve Corps program is designed to assist Calcasieu Parish by building a team of healthcare professional including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, mental health and support personnel that will activate and augment the existing medical response during a man-made or natural disaster. In addition, the CMRC team will address community needs and public health education and assistance on a daily basis.

Safety Town is based on teaching school children over a one week period. We reach 700 teaching them fire safety, bike safety, Safe and Healthy me do blood pressure checks, eye, dental and height and weight.
