Profile:
The Carnation-Duvall Medical Reserve Corps (CDMRC) is a program organized by the Carnation-Duvall Citizen Corps Council (CDCCC), one of the first Citizen Corps Councils in King County. CDMRC services the mostly rural Snoqualmie River Valley communities of Carnation and Duvall that include approximately 15,000 residents. The CDMRC meets the third Wednesday of each month except December. We are focused on organizing volunteer medical and healthcare-related personnel, assisted by Community Emergency Response Team members and other interested individuals, to prepare and respond to emergencies in coordination with local fire and police departments and city staffs. Throughout the year, we educate residents regarding healthy living and preparedness, thus empowering them to be more independent and secure if cut off from outside medical resources in times of disaster. We teach volunteers to respond first in their own neighborhoods, then, via radio communications if needed, to other coordinated locations. Per capita membership is about 0.5% (83 MRC members/15,000 area population).

Recent Activities:
8/18/2010
Twenty-three CDMRC members and 4 guests enjoyed the Recognition Dinner held in honor of our 38 H1N1 Heroes. Those heroes are the volunteers who were ready to staff the 2009-2010 Temporary Immunization Clinic had the clinic been activated by Public Health.

6/12/2010
After an exercise of the telephone alert tree the evening before the drill, three 10-person teams set up fully-operational field treatment centers in different locations simulating a regional response to a major earthquake. Treatment centers were located on the west side of the Snoqualmie River and on the east side in our two "landslide-isolated" cities. Involved were a local church, a children's camp, a senior center and the Duvall fire department. A debriefing lunch was provided to the MRC teams and to the 8 supporting ham radio operators and 2 CERT team members.

5/19/2010
Fifteen members met for one last earthquake drill planning session. The drill is coming up on Saturday, June 12. Assignments, position responsibilities, and field treatment center procedures and forms were reviewed. Contents of the first aid supplies bag and the equipment bag were displayed; the assembly of a folding cot was demonstrated with several members participating.

4/21/2010
Seventeen members and 3 guests attended the semi-annual pot-luck dinner meeting. Presentations were made on emergency communications, Map Your Neighborhood and the recent Partners in Emergency Preparedness conference.

3/17/2010
Thirteen members met to plan for June 12th earthquake drill.
