In Mecklenburg Co. our local Health Dept. identified a need for a more organized physician response to potential health crises apart from the well established hospital disaster plans. The Mecklenburg Co. Medical Society has assumed the leadership role for identifying physician and nurse resources in the community. Members of our MRC committee include the director of the health department, representatives of local emergency response groups, both of our hospital systems, and members with experience in health crises management.
Our current efforts focus on recruitment and training of physicians and nurses.
