The Franklin County and Columbus MRC is a cooperative effort between a number of agencies in the community including the Franklin County and Columbus Health Departments, Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security, the Central Ohio Trauma System, Columbus City Schools, FirstLink, Red Cross of Greater Columbus, and the Columbus Division of Police.
The FC&C MRC seeks to support the existing medical response infrastructure to improve the health of Franklin County citizens, especially during times of disaster and great community need. Should our assistance be requested, we will also support the health needs of other counties across the nation during times of emergency. We will train our volunteers and leaders in emergency preparedness and other public health support functions so that when the need arises, we are ready to serve. Our training and plans will pay special attention to populations often ignored in emergency preparedness- children, the disabled and the elderly. Our volunteers would also be used by the Health Departments to assist with mass vaccination or mass prophylaxis clinics should the need arise.
