Profile:
Madison County Health Department seeks individuals from all occupations and/or backgrounds including non-medical occupations to volunteer for the Medical Reserve Corps. In the event of a bio-terrorism emergency or any other type of public health disaster, Madison County Health Department has been designated as the agency to provide medication to the public to prevent disease. Volunteers will help with the dispensing of medication, restocking supplies, crowd control, and performing any clerical duties.

Recent Activities:
7/13/2010
A recognition luncheon for 2009 MRC H1N1 Flu Vaccine Clinic Volunteers and Seasonal Flu Clinic Volunteers was hosted by the Madison County Health Department. Certificates of Appreciation, thank you letters from the Director of the OCVMRC, H1N1 Hero and MRC pins were presented to those in attendance and mailed to those who could not attend.

4/27/2010
The MRC Volunteer Coordinator gave a PowerPoint presentation on Emergency Preparedness and the Madison County MRC to two Health and Medical Careers classes at Edwardsville High School. Packets containing information on Family Preparedness and the Madison County MRC were distributed.

3/23/2010
The AmeriCorps Member participated in the Collinsville Middle School Health Fair. Over 600 students were in attendance. The presentation focused on Disaster Preparedness as it relates to tornadoes and earthquakes. 300 Family Preparedness packets were distributed.

3/1/2010
The Madison County Health Department MRC held an Orientation Training session to train volunteers in basic Incident Command, Public Health, Strategic National Stockpile, and Mass Dispensing Procedure.

12/18/2009
12 MRC nurses volunteered at 6 H1N1 Flu Vaccine Clinics during the months of November and December 2009 for a total of 70.85 hours.
