The Natrona County MRC was launched in July of 2005 as an auxiliary unit of the City of Casper-Natrona County Health Department. We are an active organization operating in a large and mixed urban-rural county of more than 60,000 people.
Our volunteers are made up of various medical professionals;from nurses to doctors to physical therapists. We also recruit non-medical volunteers to serve in administrative roles and to provide basic first aid services.
Two features make the NCMRC distinctive: our level of care, and our focus. Because we recruit both medical and non-medical professionals, the NCMRC provides first aid-level care only. Our volunteers would treat the “walking wounded,” which would allow first responders and hospitals a greater ability to treat the critically injured.
Another focus of the NCMRC unit is to provide Firefighter Rehabilitation, which involves vital sign monitoring, re-hydration, and electrolyte replenishment of emergency responders. Essentially, we take care of the responders taking care of us. We also support community events by supplying first aid stations with trained medical volunteers and equipment for the public (a service we provide to organizations free of charge).
