| Profile: |
The Pittsylvania-Danville Medical Reserve Corps (Pitt-Dan MRC), a part of the Pittsylvania County Health Department, is being developed to serve Pittsylvania County & the City of Danville, a heavily populated area located between the Southwest MRC and the Southside MRC. Pitt-Dan MRC will deal with surge capacity in local disasters, including assisting with mass prophylaxis/vaccination clinics or other major public health needs. The unit will be partnered with the Red Cross, VOAD, County mental health services, OEM, Citizen Corps, and other County resources to develop a coordinated response to a disaster. This unit will be recruiting members for its MRC by making presentations and/or delivering brochures to its municipal libraries, Citizen Corps meetings, meetings of professional organizations, mailings, health fairs, and other community gatherings. The MRC volunteers will be included in exercises being planned by the County & City Health Department.
