Profile:
The mission of the Upper Valley Medical Reserve Corps is to serve as a medical personnel resource for the Upper Valley. The Upper Valley Medical Reserve Corps will support and assist local governments and area healthcare systems with emergency medical operations and vital public and community health activities. The Upper Valley spans across New Hampshire and Vermont. In the near future we would like to create a cross border partnership between the two states for the Upper Valley. The Upper Valley MRC is in its initial stages of development and are currently working on creating their standard operating procedures and volunteer handbook. The Upper Valley MRC is partnering with key community partners in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Advisory board meeting to discuss the organizational structure and future of the MRC relating to sponsorship.

The Upper Valley Medical Reserve Corps was asked to provide basic first aid training to a group of 25 high school students participating in the Area Health Education Center's healthcare career camp. This group of kids are from all over the US and spend one week at Dartmouth College learning about varied careers in healthcare and participate in activities in the Patient Safety and training center located at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

The Upper Valley Medical Reserve Corps was asked to provide basic first aid training to a group of 25 high school students participating in the Area Health Education Center's healthcare career camp. This group of kids are from all over the US and spend one week at Dartmouth College learning about varied careers in healthcare and participate in activities in the Patient Safety and training center located at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

The Upper Valley Medical Reserve Corps provided medical coverage at a large bike and road race for 29th annual Prouty event. This event is a fundraiser for cancer research and helps to support the activities at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon, NH Th UV MRC provided EMTs and Nurses at the start/finish line medical tent and treated over 70 patients during the day. This event had over 4500 participants and 1000 volunteers.

Advisory board meeting to discuss new recruits, organizational structure and acceptance of a small state grant for equipment. In addition, the group discussed upcomig initiatives that the MRC may be involved in including staffing a medical tent at a large bike and road race for cancer research and prevention, several emergency preparedness drills coordinated by NH and VT and upcoming Public Health initiatives within NH. Discussion surrounding collaboration with the Dartmouth College CERT team was also a focus of this meeting.
