Profile:
The initial activation in September 2003 of what is now the Upstate South Carolina MRC, began as a single-county unit. The Upstate South Carolina MRC covers SC DHEC's Region 2, which includes the following counties: Cherokee, Greenville, Pickens, Spartanburg, and Union. ----------------------------Registration: www.scserv.gov ------------------------------------ The registration process for enrollment in the Upstate South Carolina MRC is a crucial component of the community’s preparedness. Volunteers register in a state-wide secure, encrypted, Web-based, electronic database system called SCSERV (South Carolina Statewide Emergency Registry of Volunteers). This database is not only for individuals wanting to register as Medical Reserve Corps Volunteers, but for all Licensed Professionals of the Healing Arts to register in advance of a time of need. ------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Vision Statement: Upstate South Carolina Medical Reserve Corp will assist entities in DHEC Region 2 and surrounding areas (e.g. all 5 county and outlying health departments, hospitals, and all 5 county emergency management directors) with meeting the needs of the community during a public health emergency. During non-emergency times the Upstate SC MRC will assist with health education, health promotion, and programs aimed at creating a healthy and prepared community.
