Profile:
The Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) works collaboratively with the local Emergency Management Agency and other Emergency Response Programs in a seven-county area to provide the necessary "surge" capacity needed during the first 72 hours after a disaster or community emergency event. MRC volunteers recently assisted the Omaha community following a summer storm that resulted in extensive damage by providing behavioral health service to those in need. The MRC is an exceptional group of over 500 professionals that are ready to assist in emergency and non-emergency situations. This diverse MRC Unit of medical and non-medical volunteers assists the community with a variety of local events providing, first aid, blood pressure screening, flu shots and whatever is needed to keep the partcipants at an event safe. If you would like to join, a completed application form and a copy of your current medical license, if applicable, is needed. The application can be obtained at www.uwmidlands.org/mrc. If you have any questions or need further information, please call 402-522-7970.
