![]() Home > MRC Spotlights > Organization Spotlight - July 2006The Lessons Learned Information Sharing network (www.LLIS.gov) is the Department of Homeland Security’s national online network of lessons learned and best practices for the emergency response and Homeland Security community. LLIS.gov was developed by the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Grants and Training. It was developed to assist emergency responders and Homeland Security officials with preventing, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from manmade or natural disasters. LLIS.gov contains lessons learned, best practices, and good stories that guide homeland security and emergency response officials in decisionmaking. Lessons learned are positive and negative experiences derived from actual incidents. Best practices are peer-reviewed techniques, procedures, ideas, and solutions that performed well and are based on experience in operations, training, and exercises. Good stories are successful initiatives implemented by various jurisdictions that might be useful to other communities and organizations. The MRC Program Office strongly encourages unit leaders and volunteers to develop best practices and lessons learned to be shared on the site. For more information about the Lessons Learned Information Sharing network, visit their Web site at www.LLIS.gov. Last Updated on 8/8/2006 |
