2006 Hurricane Preparedness

In 2005, Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma devastated the Gulf Coast, requiring great resources, helping hands, and many volunteers. Heralded as one of successes of the response and recovery efforts in the White House 2005 Hurricane Lessons Learned Report, the MRC proved its value in an emergency. As we are now in the midst another hurricane season, the MRC Program Office strongly encourages you and your MRC unit to prepare. Whether disaster strikes your community or a community in another state, there may be a need for your unit to assist. We will continue to update this page and send regular messages through the MRC Listserv to keep you informed on MRC Hurricane Preparedness tips and activities as related to emergency preparedness response.
