Courses at the Emergency Management Institute
Emergency Management Institute (EMI) curricula are structured to meet the needs of its diverse audience with an emphasis on how the various elements work together in emergencies to save lives and protect property. EMI develops courses and administers resident and nonresident training programs in areas such as natural hazards, technological hazards, professional development, leadership, instruction methodology, exercise design and evaluation, IT, public information, integrated emergency management, and train the trainers. This portion of the EMI site includes current schedules, the EMI Catalog of Activities and Course Descriptions, and admission applications.

Emergency Management Institute—Training
The Emergency Management Institute serves as the national focal point for the development and delivery of emergency management training to enhance the capabilities of Federal, State, local, and Tribal Government officials, volunteer organizations, and the public and private sectors to minimize the impact of disasters on the American public. Instruction focuses on the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Information about courses, programs, and activities is included on the Web site as well as general student information.
