MRC Talking Points for Returning Volunteers

Dear MRC Leaders,

Medical Reserve Corps members returning from their various deployments in response to Hurricane Katrina will provide local MRC units with a tremendous opportunity for publicity. You may want to encourage your returning members to share their stories with your local media. However, you may only want to encourage the ones who will be comfortable talking to reporters and who will best represent your program.

With help from Julie Frasco at Maricopa County MRC in Arizona, I’ve compiled some talking points (Word 34KB) from a national perspective. You can provide these to your members who will be interviewed. You may also want to develop talking points describing your local response and relief activities.

Thank you,

Mike Weibel
Acting Public Information Officer
Office of the Surgeon General / Medical Reserve Corps

and

Cache County (Utah) MRC Director/Coordinator
