SANTA ANA – The County of Orange was selected for seven Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards will be presented at the NACo Annual Conference in Richmond, Virginia on July 15. The NACo Achievement Awards recognize effective and creative county programs that promote quality and responsive county government and administration.

“We are very proud of the innovation and dedication to service that is exhibited in these seven County programs,” said Chairman Chris Norby. “Of particular note, the Retiree Medical Restructuring Program is a ground-breaking effort by the County to address one of the most significant issues facing most counties and cities—the growing cost of funding retiree medical care benefits.”

Winning submissions from the County of Orange include:

  • Retiree Medical Restructuring Program by the County Executive Office
  • Pension Early Payment Program by the County Executive Office
  • Trial Attorney Partnership Program by the District Attorney’s Office
  • Medical Reserve Corps by the Health Care Agency
  • New Leash on Life Program by the Probation Department
  • Weights & Measures Wireless Inspection & Reporting System by the Resources and Development Management Department
