- 2006 MRC National Leadership Conference Announcement

The MRC Program Office is happy to announce the 2006 MRC National Leadership Conference. It will be held April 18–21, 2006 in Dallas, Texas. Medical Reserve Corps leaders are invited to participate in this networking and knowledge-sharing conference.

On Nov. 19 the first-ever change of command ceremony was held for the newest unit within the Texas State Guard, the Medical Reserve Corps, also known as the Texas Medical Rangers.

The police and fire radios Tuesday morning crackled with reports about the man who came upon a mysterious parked van emitting a foul odor. He was standing on a street corner in the Columbia Gateway office park, waving his arms and trying to summon police cruisers parked a short distance away.

President George W. Bush will present the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Dr. Raymond Goodman when he arrives in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, October 20, 2005. Goodman is a volunteer with the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) of Los Angeles.

Are you ready? Sharon Dane, resident and psycho-social rehabilitation specialist for Goodwill Industries, is prepared! In addition, she is helping prepare others to provide responsible assistance in the event of an emergency by recently hosting a CPR/First-Aid course at her home in town, taught by Barbara Rawlings, Medic/First-aid certified instructor and certified midwife.

Thomas Williams, MD, has held a lifelong interest in disaster preparedness and response, which has extended from his teenage years as Cadet Commander of the Lincoln, NE Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol—the official auxillary of the United States Air force—to his current work as Medical Director of The Pathology Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where he plays a vital role in disaster and terrorism preparedness, serving on the committees of the Omaha Metropolitan Medical Response System, Nebraska Bioterrorism Advisory Committee, and Bioterrorism Task Forces of the Nebraska Medical Association and College of American Pathologists.
