Carla Mitchell

Region III MRC Regional Coordinator

Carla Mitchell is the MRC Regional Coordinator for Region III (DC, DE, MD, PA, VA, WV). She offers assistance and support to the existing MRC units in the Mid-Atlantic

Region III Regional Coordinator Carla Mitchell

region. In addition, she aids individuals who are interested in starting an MRC unit in their local community. Carla is dedicated to working closely with individual units to advance the Surgeon General's public health priorities and coordinate with the goals of the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps.

Carla has more than 11 years experience in the public health field. Prior to being a Regional Coordinator, she worked with HRSA’s National Health Service Corps (NHSC). In this role, she assisted with serving physicians to fulfill the mission of improving the health of the Nation’s underserved communities. Carla’s additional area of interest and experience is in Maternal and Child Health, specifically high-risk pregnancy research and pediatric disease prevention.

Carla received a bachelor’s of science in Health Services Management from the University of Maryland and a master’s of public health from George Washington University. Carla loves to spend time with family and friends, sing, and do anything that will put a smile on her face. Carla believes that it is important to put your heart into everything you do and indulge in each day!
