Gary W. Brown, M.P.A.

Region VII MRC Regional Coordinator

Gary Brown serves as MRC Regional Coordinator (MRC RC) for Region VII (IA, KS, MO, NE). He provides technical assistance and support to the existing MRC units in the region and helps people interested in the MRC program to start a unit when there is not currently an active MRC in their local community. Mr. Brown works closely with individual units to advance the U.S. Surgeon General's public health priorities and coordinate with the goals of the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps.

Mr. Brown has more than 16 years working in emergency planning, operations, and training. Prior to his current position, he was the president and principal consultant for G.W. Brown and Associates, Inc., specializing in emergency management and homeland security. He also served as the Emergency Services Manager for a regional council of governments serving the eight-county, bi-state Kansas City metropolitan area, and was the Senior Emergency Services Coordinator in Placer County, California. Mr. Brown is a former Air Force officer.

Mr. Brown received a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He, his wife Maria, and their five children, Colin, Carolyn, Christopher, Kelly, and Sean, live in Shawnee, Kansas.
